HEMET — Two adorable English bulldog puppies that were reportedly snatched from their owner’s arms during a robbery last Saturday, July 21, have been recovered, officials announced. The puppies were returned to their grateful owner earlier today.

The robbery happened outside Hemet Valley Mall, on the 2300 block of W. Florida Ave., in Hemet and two Quail Valley brothers have since been arrested in relation to the robbery investigation, according to Hemet PD.

After an investigation, officials arrested 20-year-old, Samuel Ramirez and 18-year-old, Sergio Ramirez. Jail records indicate Samuel Ramirez was arrested July 24 at CHP’s Temecula office. Sergio Ramirez was arrested July 25, in the area of Arlington Ave. and Van Buren Blvd., in Riverside.

Both men were booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony and second degree robbery. Sergio Ramirez faces the additional charge of violation of probation.

Both men remain in custody on $50,000 and $30,000 bail respectively and the pair is scheduled to be arraigned at an unspecified court, July 27.

Hemet PD’s investigation began shortly before 7:20 p.m., Tuesday evening, after receiving reports that two men had grabbed two male bulldog puppies – pushing and knocking down the dogs’ owner in the process.

Hemet PD’s Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation and quickly began developing leads and gathering information that led to the suspects’ arrests.

After the two men were apprehended, neither were willing to cooperate with investigators and neither was willing to provide information about the stolen puppies’ whereabouts.

As Hemet PD’s investigation was continuing, detectives received information earlier today that the puppies were at a Menifee/Sun City motel. Detectives later located the stolen dogs.

Hemet PD’s Chief Rob Webb, along with police lieutenants, investigators, and officers, surprised the dogs’ owner, Sarah Adams, with her two bulldogs during a reunion set up at Hemet PD after officials recovered the pair of puppies.

“We were scared we weren’t going to get these dogs back,” one Hemet PD officials admitted while the recovered puppies were being returned to Adams. “It’s always nice to do something good, especially when some positive comes out of it in the end.”

Adams could barely contain her excitement during the press conference. “You guys have all been great, all the leads and the hard work,” the happy pet owner said during the joyful reunion. “I really appreciate everything.”
