HAPPY VALLEY — A suspected drug dealer was arrested after deputies discovered a half-pound of methamphetamine and other items associated with drug sales Monday night, August 13. A Shasta County sheriff’s deputy was on patrol around 10:15 p.m., when he noticed the blacked out Toyota pickup truck being driven on Erica Lane. The official also saw that the truck’s registration was expired.
After stopping the Toyota and contacting the vehicle’s two female occupants, the deputy conducted a records check on both women and learned the passenger, 53-year-old, Tedi Ellen Vierra, was on probation for possession of a loaded/concealed firearm and was subject to search terms.
When the deputy informed Vierra he was going to conduct a probation search, she reportedly grabbed her purse and attempted to reach inside of it.
The deputy stopped Vierra from grabbing her purse and had Vierra and the driver, 44-year-old, Tina Annette Rose, exit the vehicle and had his K9 partner “Fritz” conduct a walk-around drug sniff of the vehicle.
K9 Fritz went into action walking around the pickup, at which time the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Based on the dog’s positive reaction to the possible presence of a controlled substance, deputies searched the Toyota and Vierra’s purse and located approximately one-half pound of methamphetamine, a glass methamphetamine pipe, a digital scale, and a roll of plastic used for packaging.
