All invited to enjoy Burney Elementary’s Back to School Night and Taco Dinner – Tuesday, Aug. 28

BURNEY — Area residents are being invited to join students, parents, and school administrators, at Burney Elementary’s upcoming Back to School Night and Taco Dinner.

The taco dinner, which is being hosted by 6th grade teacher, Jenny Boyd Arseneau, is Tuesday evening, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Taco plates will be selling for $5 and drinks cost $1 at this Tuesday’s Back to School Night and Taco Dinner at Burney Elementary.

Prices are $5 for a taco plate and $1 for drinks, and all proceeds will be going to help raise money for the school’s 6th Grade Science Camp at Mendocino Redwoods. The annual camp is the highlight of the year for many 6th graders.

“Everyone is welcome,” Arseneau explained in a social media release announcing next Tuesday’s special evening. “Please share and invite your friends!”

Next week’s Back to School Night and Taco Dinner comes on the heels of the school’s very successful “School Year’s Eve” event, which was held last Sunday evening, Aug 19.

Nearly 200 people were in attendance at last week’s school sponsored function, which featured opportunities for anxious students to meet their teachers for the upcoming year and parents the opportunity to reconnect with other parents and friends, both old and new.

29 “Read and Ride” wrist bracelets for the upcoming Intermountain Fair were awarded and one very lucky recipient, former BES student and recent Burney High grad Alex Madera, received a brand new kayak during a raffle in support of the 6th grade camp.

“It was exciting to see who won wrist bands and the many students who went to the library and participated in the Read and Ride summer reading program,” second grade teacher Joy Ford later said of the School Year’s Eve event and Read and Ride awards.

Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about and join the school’s PTA and to purchase school T-Shirts and other items.

Burney Elementary is located at 37403 Toronto Ave. For more information about Burney Elementary and its upcoming events visit them on Facebook or online. For more information about next Tuesday’s event, visit Facebook events or call (530) 335-2279.
