Alert citizen’s tip leads to sex offender’s arrest at Anderson Wal-Mart
ANDERSON — An out of compliance and unregistered sex offender was arrested last Saturday evening, Aug. 25, after an alert citizen spotted and recognized the man inside Anderson’s Wal-Mart. The store where the man was found and arrested is at 5000 Rhonda Rd., and several fast food restaurants and a T-Mobile store share the Supercenter’s parking lot.

Anderson PD officers were flagged down about 6:50 p.m., after a person recognized Marvin Lee Gange, 53, of Anderson, from a website that showcases sexual offenders who are out of compliance or have failed to register.
Officers contacted Gange at the location and determined he “had failed to comply with his registration requirements and was in fact in violation,” Anderson PD wrote in a social media release after the arrest.
“Gange is a registered sex offender for a prior conviction for a lewd/lascivious act with a child under the age of fourteen, (who) had failed to update his sex offender registration record,” according to APD.
Gange was arrested for failing to register as required by law and he was later booked into Shasta County Jail. Online jail records indicate Gange has already been released from custody.
Gange was at least the second, out of compliance sex offender arrested in Anderson in the last month, including a 63-year-old, Oregon man APD officers arrested near the Anderson Teen Center earlier this month.
William Avery Nash was arrested after an eagle eyed officer spotted him loitering near the teen center Aug. 5. After contacting Nash, the officer determined the man had failed to register since moving to Anderson from the Hillsboro, Oregon area. Shasta County Jail records indicate Nash remains in custody, held on $50,000 bail.
