UPDATE: Hemet man killed in Moreno Valley SR-60 crash ID’d
UPDATED: Saturday, Sept. 8, 8:22 p.m., With coroner’s release
MORENO VALLEY — Officials have identified a Hemet man killed Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, in a two-vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and construction truck on the 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley.
The deadly collision happened just east of the Theodore Street off ramp, just days after a solo-vehicle wreck that left four people – including a pregnant 20-year-old – dead, just one exit away. Officials have said the earlier accident was the result of a “speed contest” and are still searching for two vehicles believed to have been racing with the victims’ car when the crash happened.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner official’s later identified 33-year-old, Rasheed Poon as the victim killed in the crash. A coroner’s release indicated Poon died at the scene about 20 minutes after the crash and was pronounced deceased at 8:37 p.m.
California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, and other emergency personnel at 8:17 p.m., after receiving reports of a crash between a Ford F-250 work truck and tan Hyundai Elantra in the westbound lanes, east of Theodore St. One witness later described that the Hyundai was “embedded” in the front of the Ford.
Cal Fire later reported Poon succumbed to his injuries at the scene and two other victims were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital. Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire spokesperson April Newman described their injuries as moderate.
CHP’s investigation into the cause of the deadly collision is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
