Officials racing to save Hemet baby found not breathing

HEMET — Authorities are at the scene of a Hemet medical aid call involving a baby who was found not breathing at a home in the area of Truman Ct. and Taft Ave., southeast of N. Palm and W. Fruitvale avenues.

An area resident later reported from the scene that the young victim may have drowned. The home where the emergency happened does have a backyard pool.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, raced to the home around 5 p.m., after receiving reports of a baby in medical distress and not breathing.

When officers arrived at a home at the end of the small cul-de-sac they immediately took over life-saving efforts and continued providing CPR until firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital several minutes later with CPR still in progress.

The victim’s current condition is not known and officials have not yet released any information regarding the incident or their investigation, which is active and ongoing at the scene.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
