CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the westbound 299 near the Cal Fire Burney Fire Station just before 5:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision. 911 callers reported the accident involving a big-rig and grey Toyota Camry and that both vehicles had pulled off the highway.
Despite no road blockage, a long line of vehicles quickly backed up in both directions with traffic already made worse by the closure of Interstate 5 due to a flare up of the Delta Fire. Westbound traffic was reportedly much heavier than eastbound traffic, but vehicles were continuing to move slowly past the accident scene.
This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
