When officials arrived at the scene they found two damaged pickup trucks and two wrecked motorcycles in the roadway. Witnesses and good Samaritans who stopped at the scene of the crash were providing aid and comfort to the downed and injured motorcycle riders, who were still in the roadway.

Based on one of the motorcycle rider’s injuries, officials at the scene requested an air ambulance and REACH27 was soon launched and racing to the area.

Video shot by an area resident later showed the air ambulance landing in an open field not far from where the collision happened.

Cal Fire spokesperson April Newman updated shortly before 10:30 a.m., that one of the downed motorcycle riders was airlifted with moderate injuries to an area hospital, while the second victim was transported by AMR ground ambulance to an area hospital with injuries described as minor.

Area resident Jennifer Deiter‎ later said she witnessed the crash and described seeing a grey Toyota Tundra waiting for a “long line of cars to pass so he could turn left onto Sorenson Rd.,” just before the four-vehicle pileup.

As she was waiting for traffic to begin moving again, “a big Silver Dodge came flying around the corner and tried to go up the embankment to avoid hitting the Toyota but there was no where to go,” Deiter explained. The Dodge then plowed into the Toyota and motorcyclists.

“Several good Samaritans who appear(ed) to have some medical training stopped and (were) trying to help,” Deiter described. All four vehicles were later towed from the scene.

California Highway Patrol is now investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is active and ongoing.
