Motorcycle vs sedan crash causes 299E backup at Churn Creek
REDDING — Afternoon commuters and other motorists heading out of Redding on Highway 299E earlier today found their trips shortly delayed after a motorcyclist tangled with a sedan at the Churn Creek Rd. off ramp. The crash caused eastbound 299 traffic to quickly back up, as motorists preparing to exit at Churn Creek found themselves stuck in a long line of vehicles that eventually caused other lanes of the highway to become affected.

CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash just before 2:50 p.m., after witnesses reported an accident involving a motorcycle and grey sedan, a CHP incident log indicated. Multiple 911 callers reported the downed motorcycle and sedan were blocking the off ramp and causing delays in traffic.
Officers arrived at the scene about ten minutes after the accident was reported and quickly worked to clear the motorcycle and sedan from the off ramp and get eastbound 299E traffic moving again.
An officer at the scene updated that the Churn Creek off ramp had been cleared and re-opened at 3:14 p.m.
Although an ambulance was initially dispatched to the scene of the crash, it was not immediately known if there were any injuries related to the accident, the cause of which is being investigated by CHP.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
