UPDATE: Officials release details, seek critical witness, after fatal 273 rollover

REDDING — Officials have released additional details about this morning’s fatal solo-vehicle rollover crash that killed 21-year-old,  Brennan Emmitt Gard, of Anderson. The deadly accident happened around 6:55 a.m., on Highway 273 at Girvan Rd.

Witnesses later reported that an unknown driver in a light-colored pickup towing a white enclosed utility trailer was stopped in the intersection at the time of the fatal rollover and may be able to provide critical information about the crash.

The driver, who was not directly involved in the crash, has not yet been identified or provided a statement to Redding PD, and officials are anxious to identify and speak with the person.

Anyone with information about this investigation, who witnessed the crash and has yet to provide a statement, or who has information about the potential witness is encouraged to immediately contact Redding Police Officer Stark at (530) 225-4200.

Original Story: One dead after solo-vehicle Hwy 273 wreck in Redding

REDDING — Authorities are investigating a solo-vehicle crash in Redding that left one driver dead earlier this morning, Thursday, Nov. 1. The fatal crash happened on Highway 273 near Girvan Road and caused the closure of the highway through the area.

Driver, 16, dies several days after crash into Anderson tree

Fire and rescue personnel dispatched to the scene of the crash shortly before 7 a.m., found a dark Chevy Suburban pulling a trailer with an ATV that had struck a light pole.

The impact caused vehicle parts, the trailer and ATV, and other debris, to be scattered across the entire roadway and officials called for the temporary closure of the highway, between Clear Creek and Canyon roads.

During the hours-long closure all traffic on the highway was being redirected to other nearby streets.

Officials determined the driver and sole occupant of the SUV sustained major traumatic injuries and the person later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Officials have not released the victim’s name pending identification and notification of the person’s family.

Officers at the scene reported that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the deadly crash and their crash investigation is active and ongoing at the scene.

SHASCOM later updated that Highway 273 was no longer blocked and had re-opened to through traffic.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
