Found unresponsive inside Burney home, elderly woman rushed to Mayers
BURNEY — An elderly woman, found unresponsive inside a Burney residence, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition this afternoon, Monday, Dec. 10.
Although an air ambulance was initially requested to airlift the victim to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, official radio traffic indicated the flight was later cancelled and she was transported by ground ambulance to Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills after paramedics at the scene reported the victim had just suffered a cardiac event and gone into “full arrest.”

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the 20000 block of Marquette St., between Timberhill Dr. and Cypress Ave., around 12:50 p.m., after a 911 caller reported finding the 66-year-old victim unresponsive inside the home.
Fire and ambulance personnel arrived at the home within minutes of the dispatched call and soon requested an air ambulance to Golden Bear landing zone. Although PHI’s Med-Flight 43 was activated and preparing to respond to the area with an extended ETA, officials at the scene updated moments later that the victim’s condition had deteriorated and she had gone into full arrest.
Based on the victim’s worsening condition and the air ambulances extended estimated arrival time, officials made the decision to transport the victim by ground ambulance to Mayers and cancelled Med-Flight 43’s response. The victim’s condition was not known as of this report.
No further information about the incident was immediately available and a request for further details had not yet been responded to.
