Woman dies in solo-vehicle Cabazon wreck
CABAZON — A woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident this morning, Monday, Dec 17, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire officials. The fatal accident happened on Interstate 10, east of Main St.

CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the deadly crash around 10:30 a.m., after a big-rig driver called 911 to report seeing a vehicle, described as a red SUV, “(fly) off the road,” CHP’s incident log indicated.
After pulling over to check on the vehicle and its driver, the truck driver updated emergency dispatchers that the SUV had overturned and ended up back on its wheels in a ditch between I-10 and Railroad Ave. The caller also advised a female victim was unconscious and trapped inside the mangled wreckage of her vehicle.
When officials arrived they determined the victim had already succumbed to her injuries and she was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a Cal Fire social media release.
Officials summoned Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials to the location of the crash shortly before 11 a.m., and were waiting for coroner officials to take custody of the victim’s body before they could move the wrecked SUV. As of this report, officials at the scene were still awaiting the coroner’s arrival.
CHP is investigating the cause of this deadly crash and have not yet released any information about their investigation, which is active and ongoing at the scene.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
