2+ pounds of meth uncovered at Redding home, 3 arrested

REDDING — Three people were arrested and more than two pounds of methamphetamine were seized Thursday evening, Jan. 3, during an investigation at a “problem residence known for narcotic activity,” according to Redding PD. The home where the arrests happened, which is located in what one RPD official called a “known high crime area,” is in the 1300 block of Caitlin Dr., northwest of Starthmore Dr. and Murrieta Loop, in Redding.

Officers assigned to Redding PD’s Neighborhood Police Unit were patrolling the area of Starthmore and Caitlin drives due to high crime rates in the neighborhood when they spotted multiple subjects standing around several cars near the intersection.

As officers approached the small crowd, Robert Gregory Tabarez, 36, of Sacramento, fled into the “known problem residence,” Redding Police Sgt. Smetak said after the incident and arrests.

“Prior to running, Tabarez had been standing next to the driver’s door of a vehicle which was still occupied by his girlfriend, Tisha Susann Williams, 38, of Sacramento,” explained Smetak.

Officers determined Williams was on felony probation for illegal possession of a firearm. A subsequent probation search of her vehicle uncovered “two large packages of methamphetamine, each of them weighing over one pound,” according to Smetak, who said Williams was detained while officers continued their investigation.

“Believing Tabarez and the occupants of the problem residence were also involved in narcotic activity, officers began hailing asking everyone to exit,” Smetak continued. Multiple people, including Tabarez and the homeowner, later identified as 37-year-old, Ou Saechao, exited the residence and were detained without further incident.

Officers were already familiar with Saechao, “as he’s been arrested fifteen times in Shasta County for a multitude of crimes including narcotic sales and illegal weapon possession,” said Smetak.

Based on their investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and later discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and ammunition inside the home. Due to the terms of his probation, Saechao is prohibited from being in possession of ammunition.

Officials arrested Robert Tabarez, 36 (L), and Tisha Susann Williams, 38 (M), for possession of more than two pounds of methamphetamine and other charges. Ou Saechao, 37 (R), was arrested for being a felon in possession of ammunition. All three were booked into Shasta County Jail on a variety of charges and warrants.

As a result of their investigation, officers arrested Tabarez and Williams. Both were eventually booked into Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion for possession of methamphetamine for sales and conspiracy to commit a felony. Tabarez was also booked on three active arrest warrants from three different counties, including Shasta, Sonoma, and Mendocino.

Saechao was also arrested and booked for being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition.

Smetak and Redding PD’s Neighborhood Police Unit used the opportunity to remind citizens they can report suspected drug houses and activity using the “Contact NPU” link on the Redding Police website.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
