Redding police officers responded to the business around 5:48 p.m., after receiving reports of a robbery in progress at the pharmacy.

“Several officers were at the scene within minutes; however, the suspects fled the area shortly after the crime occurred and were not located,” Redding Police Corporal Brian Torum later explained.

During their investigation, officers interviewed a number of witnesses who reported that both suspects entered Rite Aid and went to the pharmacy area.

“Both suspects jumped over the counter and forced employees to give them pharmaceuticals and cash,” said Torum. “Both males then fled the store and were last seen running south away from the business.”

Officers later obtained video surveillance from neighboring businesses, that showed the suspects getting into and fleeing the area in a nearby vehicle, Torum described as “an unknown make and model dark-colored sedan with alloy wheels.”

The suspects were described as two black male adults in their 20s, and their identities are not known at this time.

Anyone information about this investigation or who recognizes either of the suspects captured by surveillance video is encouraged to contact Redding Police Department at (530)225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 19R007281 and can remain anonymous.
