Pedestrian dies after MoVal collision

MORENO VALLEY — A pedestrian died after he was struck by a car in Moreno Valley early Monday morning, Feb. 4. The fatal accident happened near the intersection of Heacock St. and Fawn Ave., between Cottonwood and Dracea avenues.

Deputies assigned to Moreno Valley Police Department, along with other emergency personnel, were notified about the collision just before 4 a.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Gil Gonzalez later explained.

When officials arrived they found a man’s body down in the roadway with “major injuries,” said Gonzalez. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have not released the victim’s name, age, or any other details, pending notification of the man’s family.

Deputies found the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian still at the scene and the driver was cooperative with the deputies’ investigation.

Based on the circumstances, members of Moreno Valley PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

During their preliminary investigation, deputies interviewed witnesses and learned “the male pedestrian was standing in a turn pocket and walked in front of the vehicle traveling southbound on Heacock St,” according to Gonzalez.

While officials worked at the scene they called for the temporary closure of Heacock St., which was reopened to through traffic several hours later.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
