MONTGOMERY CREEK — Authorities already investigating last month’s burglary at the Montgomery Creek Post Office got a big boost in their investigation this week, when a nearby business released CCTV surveillance footage of a pair alleged to have committed the crime.

Shasta County sheriff’s deputies began investigating the burglary Feb. 21, after the Post office was broken into just after 3 a.m. Deputies learned the burglars had ransacked the office and stolen all of the packages awaiting delivery or pick-up.

As their investigation continued, deputies located and obtained surveillance footage from the nearby Montgomery Creek Market.

That video footage, which was released by the market on social media on Mar. 5, showed at least two, but possibly three people arrive at the business in a silver, 2003 to 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The vehicle had no license plates and a temporary DMV tag in the back window.

The first suspect to exit the vehicle was described as possibly a male, with a medium to large build. He was carrying a crow bar or other similar tool and was wearing blue latex gloves, a Vans brand hoodie, blue pants, and older brown shoes. Most distinctively, he was wearing a mask from the Predator movie.

The second suspect to exit the Mitsubishi was described as a much smaller and thinner build person, who could have been a female. The suspect was wearing a hoodie, blue pants, black, newer looking Vans-style shoes with black uppers and laces and white soles. That suspect was also wearing a mask.

Suspect #2

Both subjects seemed to know where the market’s surveillance cameras were and appeared to look down or away from the cameras as they walked past them, indicating they were possibly local residents and familiar with the business and its security measures.

Although officials mentioned a possible third suspect, no information or details were immediately available about that person.

SEE RELATED UPDATE: Evidence possibly links pair to numerous recent Intermountain area burglaries

The Post Office burglary was just the most recent of a long string and series of commercial and residential burglaries that have plagued the Intermountain area for years, and many area residents have speculated that some of the same people could be responsible for many of the burglaries.

The sheriff’s investigation is ongoing and officials have asked that anyone with information about this case to contact Shasta County Sheriff Deputy Tim Estes at (530) 245-6070. Callers can remain anonymous.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.

Both suspects were wearing blue latex gloves
Suspect #1 was wearing a Predator movie mask, similar to this one.
Suspect #2 was wearing newer, Vans-style shoes with black laces and uppers and white soles.
