Search for woman ongoing after Perris officer involved shooting
PERRIS — Authorities are searching for a woman they allege tried to run down a deputy in a stolen vehicle early this morning, Wednesday, March 13. A deputy who was nearly struck by the stolen SUV opened fire at the woman, who managed to flee the area and evade apprehension. The shooting happened near the intersection of La More and West Metz roads, in Perris.

This morning’s incident began around 3:40 a.m., when deputies assigned to Perris Sheriff’s Station spotted a stolen Chevrolet Trailblazer, Riverside Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Mike Vasquez explained after the incident and shooting. The SUV was occupied by a Hispanic female who has not yet been identified.
“As deputies approached the vehicle, the female driver accelerated toward deputies and a deputy involved shooting occurred,” said Vasquez. “The driver fled the scene, and additional law enforcement resources were called to assist.”
Responding deputies and other officials established a perimeter around the area and began searching for the vehicle and woman. Deputies eventually located the stolen, but unoccupied, SUV about a half-mile away, near the intersection of Diana St. and W. San Jacinto Ave.
Despite an extensive search for the woman, deputies were unable to locate her. She has been described as a Hispanic female, 30 to 40-years-old, and was last seen wearing a dark tank top and blue jeans.
Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators responded to the scene and assumed the shooting investigation, which is active and ongoing.
The sole deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per Department policy, and the deputy’s name will not be released at this time.

I live right next to where it happened. You forgot the part about the cop shooting the woman five times. She was on foot when he shot her and died on the street in front of my friends house
Hi Amber,
If that is the case, then RSO has a lot of explaining to do. I wrote my article based directly on the sheriff’s press release about the incident. That release said the woman escaped and was not found. I wonder if we are referring to the same incident?

There was a girl shot and killed she is right it happened right behind my sisters house and also in front of my friends house the officer shot the wrong girl why he shot period is my question
Not according to RSO’s Media Information Bureau, Charlene.
Contacted for clarification about these ongoing allegations about a woman shot five times whose body was found in front of a nearby home, this is what they had to say:
Trevor,
The Sheriff’s Department did not receive any information or reports of any deceased bodies in the area. We are continuing to ask the public for help locating and identifying the involved individual(s). If anyone has information they would like to share, please have them contact homicide Investigator Button at 951-955-2777.

Deputy Mike Vásquez
