Moreno Valley teen struck, killed by car

MORENO VALLEY — A 19-year-old, Moreno Valley man died after he was struck by a car late Friday evening, March 29. The deadly collision happened on Heacock Street, between Bay Ave. and Alessandro Blvd., in Moreno Valley.

Emergency personnel were alerted to the collision about 11:19 p.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Gil Gonzalez explained after the accident.

Fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene within minutes of the dispatched call and found “a male pedestrian who had suffered multiple traumatic injuries and succumbed to those injuries at the scene,” said Gonzalez.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials later identified the victim as Marc Contreras. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 11:29 p.m.

The driver of a small sedan that struck Contreras had immediately pulled over and remained at the scene. The driver’s vehicle sustained major front-end damage and was later towed from the scene.

Based on the circumstances, deputies assigned to Moreno Valley PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation.

The driver who struck Contreras, “did not appear to be impaired from the use of drugs or alcohol,” and was cooperating with officials, according to Gonzalez.

During their initial, on-scene investigation, deputies called for the temporary closure of Heacock St., between Bay Ave. and Alessandro Blvd. The roadway was reopened several hours later.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
