Mom and child hospitalized after two-vehicle Hemet wreck

HEMET — Officials are continuing to investigate and clean up the after math of a two vehicle wreck that happened this morning, Monday, May 6. The crash, which sent a mother and child to the hospital for precautionary purposes, happened in front of Brubaker Park and less than a block from West Valley High School, at the intersection of Mustang Way and S. Cawston Ave.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene of the crash just after 8 a.m., this morning.

When officials arrived they found two wrecked and moderately damaged vehicles, described by witnesses as a white Honda Civic and white Hyundai Genesis. The two vehicles were in the middle of the intersection and vehicle parts and debris were spread throughout the intersection, with several lanes of travel blocked and impassable.

Officials found all the occupants out of their vehicles and checking damage to their cars. None appeared seriously injured.

A woman and child from one of the two involved sedans were evaluated at the scene before both were transported to Hemet Valley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A fire official at the scene later said the pair was uninjured, but transported for “precautionary” reasons.

Hemet PD and other officials remain at the scene, investigating the cause of the collision, while cleaning up vehicle parts and debris that is littering the roadway.

Hemet PD’s investigation is ongoing and officials have not yet released any information regarding the collision.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
