Downtown Palm Springs gunfire injures one

PALM SPRINGS — Authorities in Palm Springs are investigating an early morning downtown shooting that left one man with non-life threatening injuries Saturday, May 11. Officials have not identified any suspects and no arrests had been made as of this report.

Palm Springs police officers were first alerted to the shooting just before 2 a.m., after 911 callers reported hearing gunfire at the City’s downtown parking structure at 275 S. Indian Canyon Dr.

Although officers were initially unable to locate any evidence of a shooting at the time, about an hour later a gunshot victim showed up seeking treatment at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.

The victim told ER staff he had been shot in Palm Springs, according to a Palm Springs PD release about their investigation.

PSPD’s investigation is active and ongoing and officials have asked that anyone with information about their investigation or who witnessed the shooting or what may have led to it to contact the department at (760) 341-7867. Tips can also be reported anonymously to Valley Crime Stoppers.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
