Palm Desert crash kills motorcyclist, 47

PALM DESERT — Officials are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Palm Desert that killed a 47-year-old motorcyclist yesterday morning, Saturday, June 15. Although officials say their investigation is ongoing and that they are still looking for potential witnesses to the deadly crash, they have specified that neither alcohol or drug intoxication are suspected to be contributing factors.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Monterey Ave. and Shadow Ridge Rd. at 6:49 a.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision between a motorcycle and Toyota SUV, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Rod LaBrecque later reported.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries in the crash and he was rushed to Eisenhower Medical Center where he later passed away. Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Larry Bandeaux, 47, of Palm Desert, as the man killed in the collision. A coroner’s report indicated Bandeaux was pronounced deceased at 7:27 a.m.

Deputies assigned to Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation which revealed Bandeaux was traveling northbound on Monterey Ave. toward Shadow Ridge Rd. just before the collision.

As Bandeaux entered the intersection, his motorcycle collided with a Toyota SUV, which had been making a left turn from southbound Monterey Ave. onto Shadow Ridge Rd. 

The driver of the Toyota, a 28-year-old female from Thousand Palms remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies during their investigation, which is ongoing at this time.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
