The Sheriff’s year-long investigation began June 14, at around 6:50 p.m., when deputies from the Perris Station responded to the 20000 block of Santa Rosa Mine Road, after receiving reports of a residential armed robbery with one victim shot, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Wallace Clear reported after last year’s deadly robbery and shooting.

Although deputies arrived at the scene within minutes of the dispatched call, when they arrived they determined the shooting victim had already succumbed to his injuries. The victim was later identified as Adan Muro.

Deputies also found several additional victims who had been bound and left behind after the robbery and fatal shooting.

The surviving victims later described the suspects as four to six masked gunmen who stole numerous grown and harvested marijuana plants before fleeing the property.

Based on the circumstances, investigators from the Perris Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation which has been active and ongoing over the last twelve months.

On May 30, as the Sheriff’s investigation continued, Central Homicide Unit investigators met with members of the District Attorney’s Office to discuss Soberanis’ alleged involvement in the robbery and Muro’s murder.

Based on their findings, investigators ultimately charged Soberanis with Muro’s homicide. Soberanis was already in custody at Riverside’s Robert Presley Detention Center for unrelated crimes when the additional charge of murder was added and his bail was increased to $9 million, according to Clear.

Anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation is encouraged to immediately contact Central Homicide Investigator Trudeau at (951) 955-2777, or Perris Station Investigator Rooker at (951) 210-1000.
