Citizen’s tip leads to ShasCo “Most Wanted” arrest

REDDING — One of Shasta County’s “Most Wanted” was arrested yesterday afternoon, Sunday, July 21, after an alert citizen spotted a man wanted for failure to appear in court on unspecified felony charges. Official radio traffic at the time indicated yesterday’s arrest happened just minutes after the citizen called SHASCOM to report seeing the wanted subject at Redding’s Clear Creek Grocery & Market, at 7036 Westside Rd.

Redding police officers and Shasta County sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the sighting at 5:01 p.m., when a person called to report possibly seeing Kyle Jacob Towner, 31, at the market. The 911 caller reported the man was last seen walking away from the market on Westside Rd. toward Market St. with a woman. The caller also reported the pair was pushing two baby strollers, with a dog in one of them.

Officers, deputies, and a K-9 handler who responded to the area began searching and just two minutes after the call was dispatched spotted the pair about four and a half miles away, near Computer Logistics on the 2000 block of Market St.

Officers detained Towner without incident and quickly confirmed the man had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, radio traffic at the time indicated. They subsequently arrested the wanted man and transported him to Shasta County Jail where he was booked on his warrants.
