Search ongoing for gun-wielding Menifee bank robber

MENIFEE — Authorities are searching for a man they say robbed a Menifee bank Friday afternoon, July 26. The robbery happened at California Coast Credit Union in the 30000 block of Haun Rd.

Deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the bank at 1 p.m., after receiving reports of an armed robbery at the location, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. John Burke later reported.

Deputies arrived “within minutes,” according to Burke; who said they quickly confirmed the bank had been robbed at gunpoint.

With information gathered from victims and witnesses at the scene, deputies immediately began a widespread search of the area but were not able to locate the suspect.

Members of Perris Station’s Burglary Suppression Team responded to the scene and assisted patrol deputies with their investigation.

Officials learned a man wearing a mask entered the business and “demanded money while displaying a firearm,” explained Burke. The suspect then fled the location with an undisclosed amount of cash, prior to deputies arrival. 

No citizens or bank staff were injured during the robbery and Perris Station’s investigation is active and ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
