Woman injured after Hemet solo-vehicle rollover

HEMET — A woman driving with a suspended license sustained minor injuries and reportedly tried to leave the scene after she plowed into a bridge guardrail, causing her vehicle to overturn Saturday morning, Aug. 10. Yesterday’s crash happened on Sanderson Ave. just north of Domenigoni Parkway.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with AMR and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the solo-vehicle crash around 11:50 a.m., after receiving reports of a vehicle that had struck a bridge guardrail and overturned.

Before officials arrived at the scene, the bloody and injured woman managed to crawl out from her destroyed vehicle, which was described as a newer, black Toyota. Witnesses later reported the woman then began walking away from the scene of the crash.

An AMR ambulance crew that was first to arrive at the scene spotted the bloody woman walking north on Sanderson Ave. and stopped her, before beginning to evaluate and treat her injuries. She was eventually transported to an area hospital for treatment of her unspecified injuries.

Officers who investigated the crash determined that just before the accident the driver was traveling southbound on Sanderson Ave. approaching Domenigoni Parkway and a bridge that crosses an irrigation channel.

As the woman neared the bridge, she plowed into a guardrail along the center divider, which caused her vehicle to overturn onto its roof.

Alcohol and/or drug intoxication have not yet been ruled out as possible contributing factors in the accident.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
