One hospitalized after shooting at DHS intersection
DESERT HOT SPRINGS — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man hospitalized this morning, Aug. 14. The shooting happened at the intersection of Acoma Ave. and Cactus Dr., in Desert Hot Springs.

Desert Hot Springs police officers responded to a report of shots fired at 9:01 a.m., DHSPD officials said in a social media release as the investigation was getting underway.
When officers arrived in the area, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs to receive treatments for his injuries and his current condition has not been released.
During their investigation, officers cordoned off the area and shut down several streets; including Cactus Dr. from Cahuilla Ave. to Pierson Blvd., and Acoma Ave. from West to Palm drives. The roads have since been re-opened.
The shooting remains under investigation and officials have not released any further information or details about their ongoing investigation.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
