Teen, 17, arrested with loaded handguns on MoVal campus
MORENO VALLEY — A teen was arrested after a tip led a school resource officer to discover the boy was in possession of two loaded handguns on a Moreno Valley campus Friday morning, Sept. 20. No injuries were reported and the teen was arrested without incident at Vista del Lago High School, at 15150 Lasselle St., according to officials.
Friday’s arrest comes on the heels of another major Moreno Valley school-related incident that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy. The victim in that case, Diego Rivera, died after a schoolyard scuffle at Landmark Middle School. Two other teens, both 13, have been arrested and charged in the boy’s death.

Friday’s investigation began about 11:30 a.m., after the school resource officer assigned to the high school “received an anonymous report of a student on campus in possession of firearms,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Victor Tejeda reported after the incident and arrest.
“The ensuing investigation led to the identification of a 17-year-old student … (who) was found to be in possession of two loaded handguns on school grounds,” explained Tejeda.
The teen was arrested and later booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall for multiple weapons-related charges.

Although the investigation is ongoing, “no evidence suggests any threats either to the school or other students,” the Sgt. stated.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
