One dead after shooting at Hemet motel
HEMET — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at Hemet’s Travelodge early this morning, Saturday, Oct. 5. Despite life-saving efforts, the man, reportedly a Hemet resident, died at the scene of the shooting.

Eight injured after stolen truck plows into Perris restaurant
City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments along with AMR medics responded to the Travelodge motel on the 2600 block of W. Florida Ave. around 12:45 a.m., after receiving reports of a shooting at the location.
When officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene they found a Black male adult on the second floor balcony of the motel. Witnesses at the scene later reported the victim had been shot multiple times by a man who then fled the area on foot.

Despite CPR and other life-saving measures, the victim passed away and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Radio traffic at the time indicated officers were searching for a possible suspect, described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 6’0″, wearing black pants and a red hoodie with a black shirt underneath.
The alleged shooter was last seen running on Florida Ave. and the southbound from the area on foot.
While officers were seen canvassing the nearby motel rooms and businesses, a sheriff’s helicopter assisted in searching for the suspect from overhead.
Despite their efforts, the suspect was not immediately located or identified.
Sources at the scene later reported police officers were searching area businesses for potential security videos that may have provided details and information about the shooting and alleged suspect.
Witnesses told investigating officers that the deadly incident may have begun as a verbal argument at Gibbel Park, across the street from the motel, and that the victim was then possibly followed to his motel room where he was shot and killed.
Distraught family members at the scene declined to be interviewed.

Hemet PD’s investigation is ongoing and officials have not released any details or information about their active and ongoing investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
