32 sex offenders face new charges after Moreno Valley compliance sweep – 16 arrested

MORENO VALLEY — Nearly 150 registered sex offenders were contacted during a recent compliance sweep in Moreno Valley, according to authorities.

During the Thursday, Oct. 10 compliance sweep, sixteen sex offenders were arrested for various violations of the terms of their release. An additional sixteen offenders who were found out of compliance face new charges and cases against them have been forwarded to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

Last Thursday’s sweep was headed by the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau, Riverside Sheriff’s Deputy Veronica Cuevas reported after the successful operation. They were assisted by members of the Moreno Valley Special Enforcement Unit, Riverside County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Team, Riverside County Probation Department, Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office and United States Marshal Service

During the operation, which occurred within the city of Moreno Valley, officials contacted a total of 149 registered sex offenders “to verify compliance with all registration requirements as well as all terms and conditions of parole or probation,” according to Cuevas. 

During the operation, the following 16 people were arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center: 

  • Maurice Davis, 29-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, misdemeanor warrant
  • Vernon Truell, 32-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, felony warrant
  • Henry Hollins, 32-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Frank Eason, 48-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Jeremy Kendrick, 29-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Charles Sharpperez, 26-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Anthony Brown, 37-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, misdemeanor warrant
  • Reginal Houston, 57-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Jeremy Kendrick, 29-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Jose Miranda, 33-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Michael Daugherty, 22-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Marco Berrueta, 32-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, marijuana cultivation
  • Jesus Birruetta-Cerna, 28-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, marijuana cultivation
  • Sergio Higuera, 56-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, marijuana cultivation
  • Jose Miranda, 33-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, parole violation
  • Richard Gonzalez, 20-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, weapon violation. 

“In addition to those arrested, an additional 16 people were found to be in violation of their registration terms,” Cuevas explained.  “These cases will be submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office seeking prosecution.”

According to Cuevas, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station conducts sexual offender compliance checks on a regular basis and additional, large-scale operations will be planned in the near future.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
