Redding bike stop leads to suspected drug sales arrest

REDDING — A bicyclist who tried to flee from officers during a bike stop in Redding was apprehended a short time later and arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales as well as several out of state and local warrants Thursday evening, Oct. 10, according to officials.

Last Thursday’s incident began around 10:15 p.m., when a Redding PD officer spotted a bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the roadway and attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop, Redding Police Corporal W. Williams reported after the bike stop and arrest.

The bicyclist, later identified as Clyde Dicus, 46, of Redding, refused to stop for the officer and fled on his bicycle.

Despite fleeing, officers who converged on the area soon found and detained Dicus near the intersection of Parkview and Hartnell avenues, according to Williams.

During their ensuing investigation, officers learned Dicus had a warrant for his arrest out of New York for drug sales, the Cpl explained. He also had warrants out of Shasta County.

Based on his warrants, officers arrested Dicus and during a subsequent search discovered the bicyclist was in possession of more than ten grams of methamphetamine and other evidence of drug sales. 

Dicus later admitted to possessing the methamphetamine for the purpose of sales and was subsequently booked for his warrants as well as possession of methamphetamine for sales.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
