The bicyclist, later identified as Clyde Dicus, 46, of Redding, refused to stop for the officer and fled on his bicycle.

Despite fleeing, officers who converged on the area soon found and detained Dicus near the intersection of Parkview and Hartnell avenues, according to Williams.

During their ensuing investigation, officers learned Dicus had a warrant for his arrest out of New York for drug sales, the Cpl explained. He also had warrants out of Shasta County.

Based on his warrants, officers arrested Dicus and during a subsequent search discovered the bicyclist was in possession of more than ten grams of methamphetamine and other evidence of drug sales.

Dicus later admitted to possessing the methamphetamine for the purpose of sales and was subsequently booked for his warrants as well as possession of methamphetamine for sales.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or Dicus’ alleged criminal activity is encouraged to contact Redding Police Department at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 19R066628 and can remain anonymous.
