BANNING — Sheriff’s and coroner’s officials are investigating the in-custody death of a well-known rapper and musician who was being held at Cois Byrd Detention Center early Monday morning, Nov. 11.
The person who died, 43-year-old, Jamarr Antonio Stamps, of Wildomar – who was also known as “Bad Azz” – was being held on a domestic violence-related charge, according to jail records.

Correctional staff from the jail were conducting a security check at 5:01 a.m., “when they located a male inmate inside a cell by himself in need of medical attention,” Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Robyn Flores reported after the man’s death.
Deputies immediately summoned medical staff and began life-saving efforts on the inmate, according to Flores; who said fire personnel soon arrived and continued life-saving measures.
Despite their efforts Stamps passed away and was pronounced deceased at the jail.
A Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner release indicated Stamps was declared deceased at 5:25 a.m.
Jail records indicate Stamps was arrested at his home on Labo Vista Ln. in Wildomar Friday, Nov. 8 during a domestic battery investigation. He was booked into jail on a sole charge of inflicting injuries on a spouse or co-habitant and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Based on the circumstances Riverside County sheriff’s investigators and Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau responded and assumed the investigation.
