Son arrested after Anza shooting death of father

ANZA — Authorities say they arrested an Anza man who allegedly shot and killed his father at an Anza residence Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 13. The deadly shooting happened at a property on the 39000 block of Cary Rd., according to officials.

Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to the rural property at 12:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a shooting at the location, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche reported after the deadly incident.

“When deputies arrived they located a male adult … deceased on the property,” Brosche explained.

The deceased man was later identified as 40-year-old, David Jose Holguin.

Based on the circumstances, Hemet Sheriff’s Station and Central Homicide Unit investigators responded to the property assumed the investigation.

During their investigation, officials identified the victim’s son, Anthony David Holguin, 22, of Anza, as the person responsible for killing the victim and arrested him “due to his involvement in his father’s death,” according to Broshe.

After his arrest, Holguin was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on an out of county warrant as well as suspicion of first degree murder, discharging a firearm resulting in great bodily injury or death, vehicle theft, second degree burglary, and other charges.

Jail records indicate Holguin remains in custody, where he is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Murrieta’s Southwest Justice Center Nov. 18.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
