REDDING — Officials have identified a woman who died when her speeding vehicle ran a stop sign and plowed into a row of boulders lining a Redding street, Thursday evening, Jan. 2. The victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to officials.
The deadly crash happened at the intersection of Alta Mesa Dr. and Rancho Rd., according to officers who investigated the cause of the deadly crash.
Shasta County Chief Deputy Coroner Lt. Randall has since identified Sierra Rylee Seitz, 21, of Redding, as the victim killed in the solo-vehicle crash.
Redding PD is continuing to investigate the cause of the deadly accident and officials have not released any further details about their ongoing investigation.

REDDING — A motorist was killed in Redding when her vehicle crashed into a row of large boulders while driving on Alta Mesa Dr. near Rancho Rd. Thursday night, Jan 2.
The victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, according to officials who investigated the deadly crash.

Redding police and fire officials were notified of the crash around 10:30 p.m., when a motorist called 911 to report finding a white, 2012 Kia Optima that had crashed into a row of boulders that line the side of the road. The caller reported the vehicle was occupied by a woman and that the vehicle was smoking.
The caller also reported the vehicle’s airbags had deployed and they could not open the doors or gain access to the mortally injured driver.
When officials arrived at the scene they found the Kia was still smoking but was not on fire.
Firefighters and paramedics managed to pull the unresponsive woman from the car, but she had already succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No one else was in the car with the woman, according to officials.
During their subsequent accident investigation, officials determined that the driver, who has not been identified pending further investigation and notification of the woman’s family, had been traveling southbound on Alta Mesa Dr., at a high rate of speed and failed to stop or slow down at a stop sign posted at Rancho Rd.

As the accident investigation was continuing, officials called for the temporary closure of Rancho Rd., and the road was reopened several hours later, around 1:15 a.m.
Officials have not yet determined if drug or alcohol intoxication were contributing factors in the deadly crash.
Police are now seeking anyone who may have witnessed the accident and have asked that potential witnesses contact Redding Police Department at (530) 255-4200. Callers can remain anonymous.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
