UPDATE: Four arrested after 2019 JV pot shop take-over robbery, shootings

JURUPA VALLEY — Authorities in Jurupa Valley say they have arrested four people in connection with an August take-over robbery that resulted in several victims being shot. The victims all suffered life-threatening injuries, according to authorities, who said the violent robbery and shootings happened at a marijuana dispensary on the 2700 block of Rubidoux Blvd.

Although there were few investigative leads when the robbery and shooting investigation began, during an exhaustive, months-long investigation officials identified and eventually arrested four alleged gang members they say were responsible for the robbery and shootings.

Jurupa Valley patrol deputies were dispatched to the marijuana dispensary just before midnight Thursday Aug. 28, after receiving reports of an armed robbery, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Padilla reported this morning.

Responding deputies learned several people had been shot during the robbery and due to the lack of leads at the time, the case was eventually turned over to investigators from the Jurupa Valley Detective Bureau and members of the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Officers Region-7.

As their investigation continued into October, Task Force officials with assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team (CATCH), began reviewing surveillance videos that were seized the night of the robbery, according to Padilla.

“While reviewing the surveillance videos, Task Force officers were able to identify the four suspects who violently robbed the marijuana dispensary and shot the victims,” Padilla explained. “All four of the suspects are documented gang members to a local criminal street gang within Jurupa Valley.”

Over the next several months, Task Force officials – with the assistance from Riverside Police Department’s Gang Intelligence Unit, the Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team and Detective Bureau, the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau Major Crimes Unit, and the Sheriff’s Fugitive Warrant Enforcement Team – began surveilling the four suspects.

Based on their investigation and findings, Task Force officials and Sheriff’s SWAT team members served several search warrants at the four suspects’ residences, which led to the recovery of numerous items of evidence linking the men to the armed robbery, according to Padilla.

The suspects have since been identified as 32-year-old Tyrale Holley, of Jurupa Valley, 28-year-old Kevin Washington, of Jurupa Valley, 32-year-old Maurice Whitely, of Jurupa Valley, and 31-year-old Andrew Cage, of Moreno Valley.

Over the last few months, all four alleged suspects were safely taken into custody without incident, according to Padilla.

Jail records indicate Holley was arrested Nov. 11, Washington was arrested Dec. 6, Whitley was arrested Dec. 26 and Cage was arrested on Jan. 2.

After their arrests, the four men were booked into Robert Presley Detention Center on a variety of charges; including attempted murder with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm. criminal street gang membership and conspiracy, along with other related charges.
