Upcoming Turtle Bay events perfect for your future Space Explorer or Junior Adventurer
REDDING — Do you have a child, age 7 to 12 who loves to look up to the stars and contemplate the mystery and wonder of our universe? Or perhaps your child fancies themselves to be a junior adventurer? Someone who loves to explore the world around them in a quest for hidden treasure?
If so, then Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding has two upcoming single-day camps in February that would be perfect for them!

Among many other special events that Turtle Bay is featuring for children this month, are two single-day camps: Out of This World and Junior Adventurer, that are sure to bring a smile to your child’s face.
Scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, Out of This World will undoubtedly spark your child’s sense of wonder and excitement about the moon, the sun, the stars and beyond!
During the one-day camp, your future “intergalactic science explorer” will have the opportunity to interact with other children while they investigate the forces of our solar system and the universe.
The following day, Friday, Feb. 21, Turtle Bay will be featuring another single-day camp perfect for your little explorer.
During the Junior Adventurer day camp, brave explorers will have a chance to discover if the rumors of a hidden treasure at Turtle Bay are true!
Your junior Indiana Jones or little Lara Croft will get to work side by side with other junior adventurers for an exciting expedition while investigating clues, uncovering secret messages, and exploring around the park; all while in search of hidden treasure.
Turtle Bay’s single-day camps are available for children ages 7-12, and run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Materials and a snack are provided during the event, but participants must bring their own lunch. Pre-registration is required by February 14. The cost is $45 for members / $55 for non-members.

Trevor Montgomery, 48, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg, breaking his back, and suffering both spinal cord and brain injuries in an off-duty accident. During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
