Lakeshore Fire Station near Redding burglarized – $30,000 stolen

LAKEHEAD — Officials are asking for the public’s help after several Forest Service buildings at the Lakeshore Fire Station were burglarized during the early morning hours of Feb. 26.

According to the U.S. Forest Service Shasta-Trinity Division, the thief or thieves made off with more than $30,000 in firefighting tools and equipment.

Officials say the burglary was discovered last Wednesday morning, when firefighters discovered forced entry had been made into several of the Forest Service buildings, which are located at the Lakeshore Fire Station on Lakeshore Dr. in Lakehead, about 30 miles north of Redding.

The items that were stolen, which included various tools and equipment, are estimated to be worth about $30,000, according to officials.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the U.S. Forest Service at 530-226-2591.

Trevor Montgomery, 48, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
