Moreno Valley shooting leaves man dead – Woman arrested

MORENO VALLEY — Authorities say a woman was arrested after a shooting in Moreno Valley left a man dead early Monday morning, March 9. The fatal shooting happened at a private residence on the 25800 block of Calle Agua, southeast of Iris Ave. and Kitching St.

The deadly shooting was the first of two homicides in southwest Riverside County yesterday involving women who were arrested for murder. The other deadly incident, which happened in the unincorporated community of Anza, left one woman dead and another woman seriously injured.

Deputies were dispatched to the home around 1 a.m., after receiving reports of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll has since reported.

Deputies arrived at the home within minutes and found an unconscious man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Espinoza.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on the circumstances, investigators from the Moreno Valley Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the home and assumed the investigation.

During their subsequent investigation, authorities determined the victim was fatally shot by 39-year-old, Rashema Noel Hardgrove of Moreno Valley, according to Espinoza; who did not specify how the alleged suspect and victim knew each other, if there was any known motive, or what may have led to the deadly shooting.

Based on their investigation, authorities arrested Hardgrove at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station and she was later booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of murder.

Online jail records indicate she remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall of Justice March 11.

The sheriff’s investigation is active and ongoing, according to Espinoza; who said no additional details are currently available.
