Come out for a special “Knight at the new Banning Art Gallery”
BANNING, Calif. — To help celebrate the opening of their new location next to the Banning Chamber of Commerce, Banning Art Gallery will be holding a free special event and ribbon cutting ceremony on March 21, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

You are going to want to save the date for this event, which will include a Featured Artist Exhibit, where you can personally meet Tysen Knight, renown for his thought provoking character works of art with a modernism flare.
During the free event, attendees can sit fireside and listen to the jazzy sounds of Kaylee Daugherty and James Moody; while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and conversation with various artists and artisans whose works will also be on display.
Make sure to save the date for Banning Art Gallery’s upcoming event and ribbon cutting ceremony, which will feature the thought provoking character works of Tysen Knight, as well as the jazzy sounds of Kaylee Daugherty and James Moody.
Best know for his colorful modernism and twist on paintings and characters such as “American Gothic” and super heroes, Knight’s works can be found in Historical Downtown Palm Springs, where he was commissioned to have his art grace the once boring concrete benches, as part of Street Bench Art Pilot Project.
An active youth mentor for the arts, Knight recently received the Exceptional Community Leader Award in Palm Springs.
Also to be featured during this event will be the musical talents of Kaylee Daugherty and James Moody.
Daughtery – who can sing in four different languages – is a local Jazz singer who grew up in Banning. Her genres include swing, ballad, blues and bossa nova.
Moody is a full-time professional jazz guitarist who performs in Palm Springs and Catalina Island seasonally.

Trevor Montgomery, 48, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Additionally, he writes or has written for several other news organizations; including Riverside County based newspapers, Valley News, (the now defunct) Valley Chronicle, Anza Valley Outlook, and Hemet & San Jacinto Chronicle; as well as Bonsall/Fallbrook Village News in San Diego County and Mountain Echo in Shasta County.
Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg, breaking his back, and suffering both spinal cord and brain injuries in an off-duty accident. During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
