HOMELAND — Authorities are investigating a triple shooting that left a man dead and two women injured in the unincorporated community of Homeland early Monday morning, March 30. The deadly shooting happened in a residential neighborhood on the 26000 block of Ritter Ave. near Wakefield Ave., just south of Hwy. 74.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the neighborhood around 2 a.m., after receiving reports of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche reported after the deadly incident.

When deputies arrived they found an adult male down on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies also discovered two women who had been shot while sitting inside a vehicle parked at the scene.

The two injured women were rushed to a local hospital where they are expected to survive their injuries, according to Brosche.

Based on the circumstances, investigators from the Perris Sheriff’s Station and Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Although deputies searched the area for the suspect(s), the person(s) responsible for the deadly shooting had not been located as of this update.

The victim killed in the shooting has not been identified, pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family, according to Brosche; who did not specify if there is a known motive for the shooting or what may have led to the deadly encounter.

The sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the scene around 2 a.m., after receiving reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.

When deputies arrived they found one deceased male and two women suffering from gunshot injuries, according to witnesses at the scene; who reported the two injured women were found inside a car.

Contacted at the scene for more information about the shooting, a deputy said she could not provide any further details and referred all other inquiries to the Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau.

Sheriff’s officials are expected to provide more information about this ongoing investigation as soon as possible.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
