Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the crash after receiving reports of a two vehicle, rollover traffic collision involving a tractor that was struck from behind and overturned on the roadway.

911 callers reported the tractor operator to be ejected from the large farm implement.

When officials arrived they found two heavily damaged vehicles, described as a tan sedan and green farm tractor.

Paramedics evaluated and treated both men involved in the crash before transporting the driver of the car to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The operator of the tractor declined further treatment at the scene.

Deputies who investigated the collision learned that just before the crash both vehicles had been traveling southbound on Sanderson Ave.

Evidence at the scene along with witness statements indicated that as the sedan approached the tractor from behind, the driver failed to move far enough to the left to avoid striking the farm vehicle and plowed into the tractor’s left rear tire.

The tremendous impact caused the tractor to spin and overturn before coming to rest on its side.

Both vehicles were left inoperable after the collision and were later towed from the scene.

While deputies investigated the cause of the accident Sanderson Ave. was temporary closed between Cottonwood Ave. and Ramona Blvd., and the roadway was reopened several hours later.
