Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire-Riverside and AMR, were dispatched to the scene about 7:35 p.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a pickup truck and pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Lemsisanith later said of the accident.

When deputies arrived they located an unconscious white male adult in the roadway and immediately began lifesaving measures until paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived, according to Lemsisanith.

A silver, 2006 Toyota Tundra and its driver were found nearby.

The pedestrian was rushed to a local area hospital in critical condition and his condition has not been updated.

Members of Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra, who remained at the scene and was cooperative with deputies, was eventually transported to the Jurupa Valley Station for questioning and was later released pending further investigation.

While officials worked at the scene, deputies called for the temporary closure of Mission Boulevard and Glen Street, and the roadways remained closed for the duration of the investigation.
