The identity of the bicyclist killed in the collision has not yet been released pending further investigation and notification of the victim’s family.
Deputies learned the driver who struck the bicyclist had fled the scene after the collision and prior to deputies’ arrival.
During their subsequent investigation, deputies developed leads and gathered information that ultimately led them to identifying 28-year-old, Nathan Craig Rogers, as the driver who hit the bicyclist and fled.
“(He) was located and taken to the Perris Sheriff Station for questioning,” said Bikul. “It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision, and the investigation is ongoing.”
