Car rolls multiple times, one ejected, after I-5 wreck
SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Three people, including one who was ejected, were seriously injured after a vehicle overturned multiple times in Siskiyou County Thursday evening, Jan. 14.
The rollover accident happened along the northbound Interstate 5 south of Louie Road, about eight miles south of Grenada and twenty-one miles north of Mt. Shasta. It was the second major accident to occur within the area over the last week.
The other fatal, DUI-related crash happened last Thursday, when an intoxicated driver lost control while driving in icy conditions and smashed into the side of a tractor-trailer combo that had been legally parked along the side of the I-5 at Montague Road.

CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 9:22 p.m., after receiving reports of a rollover accident with possible ejection, CHP – Yreka has since reported.
When officials arrived they found a white Kia Rio that had overturned multiple times. They also confirmed that one of the passengers had been ejected and had sustained major traumatic injuries as the vehicle rolled.
All three victims were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries that CHP later described as major.

During their subsequent investigation CHP determined the driver, Michael Chandler of Weed, was traveling northbound on I-5, south of Louie Road when he lost control of his vehicle.
As his car careened across the lanes of traffic and onto the dirt center median area of the highway, the Kia struck a concrete barrier and overturned multiple times.
“A passenger in the back seat was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle,” CHP later described; adding, “The driver and two passengers also sustained major injuries as a result of this crash.”
