Laying in middle of San Jacinto roadway, person fatally run over
SAN JACINTO, Calif. — Authorities say a person who was laying in the middle of a San Jacinto street was killed after a motorist ran them over early Monday morning, Jan. 18.
The deadly accident happened in the area of N. State Street and Village at San Jacinto.

Deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene around 3:15 a.m., after receiving reports of a traffic collision between a vehicle and pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Mike Heath has since reported.
“An AMR unit was in the area at the time of the collision and provided immediate medical attention,” said Heath.
When deputies arrived they found Cal Fire-Riverside and AMR personnel already at the scene attempting life-saving measures on a critically injured person that was down in the roadway.
Despite their efforts to save the person who had been run over, the victim succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the scene.
The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of the person’s family.
While paramedics worked to save the pedestrian’s life, the stunned and clearly shaken driver who had struck the pedestrian was seen standing next to their Toyota nearby, waiting for law enforcement officers to arrive.
Based on the circumstances, members of the San Jacinto Station’s Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During their subsequent investigation, CRT deputies learned the driver of the Toyota was traveling northbound on State Street when they struck a pedestrian who was “lying down in the middle of the roadway,” Heath explained; adding, “The driver of the vehicle immediately pulled over and waited at the scene.”
