Shots fired inside Eastvale home lead woman’s arrest
Writer’s Note: An initial release of this story mentioned that this morning’s arrest was preceded by a standoff, based on an initial press release that mentioned that the alleged suspect refused at first to exit the residence – leading to the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau to respond to the home. However, contacted by phone, a Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesperson was not able to confirm whether a standoff actually occurred, between the 3:15 a.m. call and the alleged suspect’s eventual 7:39 a.m. arrest. Therefor that information has since been removed from this article.

EASTVALE, Calif., — Authorities say reports of a family disturbance with shots fired inside a City of Eastvale residence led to a woman’s arrest early this morning, Thursday, Sept. 2. The incident occurred at a residence in the 14000 block of Fabiola Lane, northeast of River and Hall roads, according to officials.

Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a reported family disturbance at around 3:15 a.m. this morning, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant and Public Information Officer Lionel Murphy has since reported.
While deputies were enroute to the home, they learned that the female suspect causing the disturbance had discharged a firearm within the home, according to the Sergeant; who said when deputies arrived and surrounded the residence she refused to exit the home or to surrender.
Although Murphy did not specify who was inside the residence when the shots were fired, online jail records later indicated that at least one child was possibly inside the home during the incident.
Based on the circumstances, Jurupa Valley Station investigators and members of the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) responded to the location and after a lengthy, hours-long standoff were able to take suspect, since identified as 31-year-old, Jessika Lauren Palma, into custody without further incident.
No one was injured during the incident and Palma was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for negligent discharge of a firearm and felony child endangerment.
Online jail records indicate she remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail or bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice on Sept. 7.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigators at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 955-2600. Callers can refer to incident file number EV212450005 and can remain anonymous.
