Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a hit and run collision involving a minor, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Javier Morando has since reported.

Deputies arrived within minutes and located a 16-year-old victim who had been hit by a vehicle. Although the victim sustained minor injuries and was evaluated and treated at the scene by paramedics, it was not immediately known if they were transported for further treatment.

During their subsequent investigation, deputies learned the victim had entered the marked crosswalk when the suspect vehicle began to make a right turn, resulting in the vehicle colliding with the victim, according to the Sergeant; who said the vehicle fled the area after the collision and was last seen traveling southbound on Sumner from Schleisman.

The suspect’s vehicle has been described as a light colored 4-door sports utility vehicle, driven by a white adult male with gray hair.

Officials are continuing to search for the suspect who fled the scene and have asked for the public’s help in locating the suspect and/or vehicle.
