“Heavily intoxicated” Redding woman arrested after fleeing multiple collisions, head-on crash
REDDING, Calif., — Authorities say a woman they described as “heavily intoxicated” was arrested last night, Tuesday, Sept. 14, after first leaving the scene of multiple collisions that occurred in the Win River Casino and then crashing head-on into a pickup truck while driving the wrong direction within a construction zone on Hwy 273.
The final crash, which occurred south of Girvan Road, caused significant damage to City of Redding property and forced the temporary closure of the highway, which has since been re-opened.

City of Redding police officers were dispatched to the scene of the final collision around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver, Redding Police Corporal Wes Townsley has since reported.
Investigating officers learned Laura Eiffert, 37 years of Redding, left Win River Casino in her 2015 Silver Kia Sorrento, colliding with multiple parked cars while doing so.
Despite damaging several vehicles, she continued to northbound Highway 273, south of Girvan “where she began driving Northbound in the Southbound lanes,” Towsley explained.
“Eiffert ultimately collided with a 2017 grey Ford F-250 that was driving south in the appropriate southbound lane,” the Corporal continued; saying the driver and sole occupant of the Ford was un-injured in the collision.
This collision occurred in the construction area of Highway 273 and caused significant damage to City of Redding property and forced the closure of the southbound 273 for about an hour.
“Officers conducted a D.U.I investigation and determined Eiffert was driving while heavily intoxicated,” said Townsely. “She was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and for multiple hit-and-run collisions.”
Online jail records indicate she has since been released from custody.
