ANDERSON, Calif., — The suspect in this investigation has been identified and interviewed and is cooperating with investigating officers, according to Anderson police officials.

In their updated social media release, Anderson PD did not specify if any charges against the woman who reportedly fled the scene were expected and have not released any further details or information regarding their ongoing investigation.

ANDERSON, Calif., — Authorities today are continuing to search for a motorist who struck a 51-year-old woman who had been riding a mobility scooter in Anderson last night, Thursday, Nov. 4.

Although the driver initially stopped long enough to drag the seriously injured woman and her wrecked scooter from the roadway, she then fled the scene prior to officials arriving. According to officials, the motorist did not call 911 and offered no medical help or assistance to the victim, who suffered major injuries but is expected to survive.

City of Anderson police and fire personnel were dispatched to Highway 273 just north of the intersection of Bruce Street around 8:21 p.m. after receiving reports of a hit and run traffic collision, APD later reported.

When officials arrived they found the seriously injured victim on the shoulder of the roadway.

The victim had sustained “significant” injuries according to officials, and she was rushed to an area hospital for further treatment.

While receiving treatment, the victim told officers she was struck by a small white car while operating an electric scooter and traveling in the bike lane of southbound Highway 273.

“The victim reported that the suspect in the hit and run initially stopped on the side of the road and began removing the victim from the roadway to the right shoulder. The suspect then fled the scene southbound on Highway 273, never summoning aid for the victim,” reported APD.

The victim described the suspect as a white female adult in her early twenties, but could not provide any further information at the time.
