Hemet man, 64, ID’d after fatal San Jacinto rollover crash

SAN JACINTO, Calif. — Authorities say a local man has died after a solo-vehicle rollover crash into a ditch in the area of Ramona Expressway and Sanderson Avenue last night, Friday, Dec. 10.

California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cal Fire – Riverside, and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 7:15 p.m. after a passerby called 911 to report seeing an overturned vehicle in an open field.

When officials arrived they confirmed finding a vehicle that had crashed and soon updated that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.

The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has since identified Gil Cid Carrera, 64, of Hemet, as the man killed in the crash. A Coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 7:36 p.m.

While officials worked at the scene they called for the temporary closure of the expressway between Warren and Sanderson avenues, but the roadway has since been reopened.

CHP’s investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
