Search for missing Redding man, 92, ends in tragedy after victim found deceased in Sacramento County

REDDING, Calif., — Family members of a missing, 92-year-old Redding man say their desperate search has come to an end after the victim was found deceased in Sacramento County.

Although Redding PD has not yet released any new information about their search for the missing man, Joseph “Joe” Marsiano, in a social media post today his daughter said, “Thank you to everyone who helped, and supported our family through this tumultuous time. Unfortunately, my father was found this evening in Sacramento County deceased.”

The post went on to ask for privacy as the family grieves their loss.

REDDING, Calif., — As word of a 92-year-old Redding man’s disappearance continues to spread and officials continue to search for the At-Risk missing elder, family and friends of the missing man are hopeful for a happy outcome and are continuing to pray for the safe return of their loved one.

Although the missing man, Joseph “Joe” Marsiano, was last seen leaving his Redding home around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, his family has said they have since learned that his missing car has been spotted in the Sacramento area and at least one of his credit cards was seen being used – possibly by an unknown person – in Walnut Grove in Sacramento County, south of Sacramento.

City of Redding police officers began searching for Marsiano after his family reported him missing. When an initial search of the Redding area failed to uncover the elderly man’s whereabouts, officials issued a Silver Alert, with Marsiano’s information being sent to CHP and all surrounding area law enforcement agencies.

A Silver Alert has been issued for 92-year-old, Joe Marsiano, who was last seen leaving his Redding home last Friday.

As the search was continuing, family members learned Marsiano’s missing vehicle, a white, 1999 Buick LeSabre with a California license plate of 4DDU469, was spotted and flagged by a traffic camera in Sacramento, during the early-morning hours of the 13th.

Then, family got their hopes up when they learned that one of the missing man’s credit cards had first been used in Redding and later at a Walnut Grove gas station, but those hopes were soon dashed when officials could not immediately confirm who had used the credit card.

According to one of Marsiano’s family members who spoke with SCNS this morning, Redding PD is still awaiting video surveillance footage from at least one of the business’s where the missing man’s credit card was used since his disappearance.

Marsiano has been described as being five-foot-seven, 150 pounds, and has gray and black hair. He wears glasses and was last seen wearing a blue windbreaker.

Redding Police Sergeant Gary Meadows has said their missing person investigation is continuing and has asked that anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation and search, or who knows of Marsiano’s possible whereabouts, is urged to immediately contact the Redding Police Department at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 21R080900 and can remain anonymous.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
